Flexicon Africa (PTY) Limited have introduced bulk handling equipment and systems designed to minimise or eliminate process interruptions caused by power outages, it was announced by Brynn Thomas, Managing Director.

Energy efficient Flexible Screw Conveyors and Tubular Cable Conveyors can operate from the electrical grid when functioning, or on relatively small electrical generators during outages. In either case, bulk materials can be fed to processes and packaging lines, or to Flexicon filling equipment to stockpile bulk materials in FIBCs and RIBCs, ready for gravity discharging during power outages.

Filled (or purchased) bulk bags, hand-held sacks, bins, drums, totes and boxes can feed processes and packaging lines using Drum/Box Tippers, Bag Dump Stations and Bulk Bag/Bin Dischargers available in electrified models with low power requirements, or in failsafe manual models which can gravity discharge during outages into process equipment and packaging lines from plant floor level, mezzanines, or optional elevated platforms.

All material contact surfaces are of stainless steel finished to sanitary standards suitable for food, dairy, pharmaceutical and industrial applications.

According to the company, the engineering staff are experienced at solving bulk handling problems associated with load shedding, and offer no-cost advice specific to each application.
