Portage purchases land for $1.2 million to build new facility

PORTAGE, MI -- The Portage City Council approved a $1.15 million purchase of three properties at its Tuesday, Aug. 8 meeting to construct a new public works facility.

As the city expands, the current facility can’t meet the maintenance demands in their current space, the meeting agenda said. The three properties at 9131 Portage Industrial Drive, 9246 Portage Industrial Drive and 9996 Portage Industrial Drive would provide enough space for an office, fuel station, salt barn and unheated storage.
